Floating Coffee Table

This Floating Coffee Table was my final project for my Fabrication Class.

During this project I was able to utilize a wood turner for my very first time and I was very proud how it turned it.

Cut off a chuck of wood

Began to trim excess

Began to cut coasters on the Band Saw

Drilled whole to began lathe work on pot

Hallowed out center of the pot on wood turner

Jig for welding square base

Jig for attaching upright

Ripping apart a pallet for the table top

Attempt 1: My attempt to square uncut lumber did not work for a plexi glass table top

Attempt 2: My attempt to make a flat surface out of left over uncut lumber. Apparently, it felt like felt like a potato chip.

Final attempt: Used 1x4s to create a flat and square table top

Spray painted glossy black

Attached 3" turnbuckles to improved tension and rigidity

Final product of succulent pot and 6 coasters
